Govt. committed to rescue Nepali's stranded in Libya

KATHMANDU, Feb. 27: Spokesperson of the government and Minister without Portfolio, Ganga Lal Tuladhar has said the government will leave no stone unturned in rescuing the Nepalis stranded in Libya.



Speaking at a press meet organized at the Reporters Club on Sunday, Minister Tuladhar, also a coordinator of the rescue shell , said to guarantee the security of Nepalis left in lurch in Libya is the main responsibility of the government. [break]



According to Spokesperson Tuladhar, over 3,000 Nepali people are presently in Libya and of them, 109 have been landed safely here on Saturday.



Similarly, 127 are arriving on Sunday. The government has already sent 30,000 US dollars to its Embassy in Egypt for the rescue of those Nepalis (562) who entered Alexandria of Egypt earlier following the political unrest in Libya.



National manpower companies and international organizations have been urged for providing support for the rescue of Nepali nationals who are facing hard times in Libya, said Tuladhar.



The government had formally granted work permit to Nepal people in Libya just a year ago, said Secretary at the Ministry of Labour and Management Dineshhari Adhikari.



In this period, 10 manpower companies sent the Nepali workers there. Of them, four have already called back the people they had sent, he said.



Similarly, Joint-Secretary at the Finance Ministry, Modnath Niroula praised the SOS company for its support in rescuing the Nepali people in Libya.



 According to Niroula, the company has provided air tickets to 562 people.



Meanwhile, Prem Katuwal and Hansa Raj Wagle expressed commitment to extend utmost help to the government in this effort from the side of the foreign employment entrepreneurs´ association.
