POKHARA, Sept 26: Kusum Paudel, 27 has been arrested for raping and murdering 10-year-old Shriya Sunar. Paudel is Shriya's neighbor and also a father to a child of four.

The spokesperson for Kaski Police, DSP Rabindraman Gurung said the culprit has been arrested and would be made public later today.

Shriya, a third-grade student at Lila Adharbhut School had gone to buy biscuit. According to locals, the child was living at her mother's maternal home after her father's second marriage. 

Shriya of Kodi had gone missing from Monday evening and was found dead at 8 AM on Tuesday. Shriya’s body was found at Kodi, Pumdibhumdi of Kaski.  

The child’s body bore severe injuries on her forehead and marks of a strangled neck. She was also stabbed with sharp object. In its post-mortem report, the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences said that she was raped and murdered and cited head injuries as the cause of her death.
