Bhittamod- Jaleshwar-Janakpur road reopens after 13 days

MAHOTTARI, August 26:  After an obstruction due to floods for 13 days, transport services along the Jaleshwar-Janakpur-Bhittamod road section resumed Friday.

The road section was blocked after the massive flooding on August 12 damaged the road section at three places.

As informed by Chief District Officer Baburam Shrestha, after the initiation of District Administration office (DAO), Mahottari and the instruction of the Department of Roads, the damaged road sections were repaired. According to Manoj Mandal, engineer at the Postal Highway Project, a 30-meter road section in Wan Tolawa, 40-meter section in Pipara, and 50 meters section in Parsa were gravelled.
 CDO Shrestha also informed that efforts are underway to reopen an alternative to the Janakpur- Bhrampura-Manara road stretch.

Meanwhile, Natural Disaster Relief Committee (NDRC) has directed the District Co-ordination Committee (DCC), to repair all the roads in the district within three days. Furthermore, DAO has deployed technicians and officials to inspect and evaluate the condition of all roads in the district.
