11 houses, 13 livestock swept away in Nawalparasi

NAWALPARASI, August 14: As many as 11 houses and 13 livestock were swept away by the swollen Narayani River in Madhyabindu Municipality-2.

Majhi and Musahar community settlements situated on the bank of the Narayani River were swept away on early Monday.  However, no human casualties have been reported.

Thirteen livestock of 11 families were swept away by the river, said ward chairman Narayan Paudel.

Those families rendered homeless by floods have been kept at Shiddha Amar Secondary School.

Madhyabindu Municipality, Nepal Red Cross Society and District Administration Office have jointly distributed relief materials including foodstuff to flood victims.

Security personnel deployed on Monday temporally rehabilitated those flood-displaced locals, Amrit Subedi of District Administration Office told Republica Online.

Similarly, one of the two rhinos swept away by the Narayani River has been found dead at Tribeni barrage in Nawalparasi today.

According to an eyewitness, six deer were also seen being swept away along with the two rhinos.

Three among them have been found dead at Tribeni barrage.

Similarly, a sluice of Gangak canal has been blocked for the fear that the floods would inflict damage on the power house.  Following the blockage of the water, Gandak hydro power generation has been hit.
