Khadka and Alam representing SES finish runners up in Singapore T20s

KATHMANDU, August 13: Local cricket club Singapore Emerging Stars represented by Nepal star players Paras Khadka and Mehboob Alam were defeated by Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) by 10 wickets in Singapore Cricket Club (SCC) T20 tournament final.
The team from Sri Lanka ousted the Singaporean club for 130 runs before smashing their way to 131/0 in just 8.5 overs. SSC’s openers Minodh Banuka (58 off 25) and current Sri Lanka limited overs international MD Shanaka (67 off 28) smashed their way to the target in a dominated display of aggressive batting. Nepal skipper, representing the local side, opened the bowling and conceded 15 runs in his solitary over of the match.
Earlier, Paras Khadka was dismissed for a golden duck as SSC’s bowlers led by Akthab Cader (3/26) and Ramesh Mendis (3/9) restricted them to 130 all out, with SES captain Ramesh Suryawanshi top scoring with 43 off 30 balls. Mehboob Alam was unbeaten on 14 runs from 10 deliveries including one six.
SES defeated Hong Kong’s Kowloon Cricket Club, Melbourne Cricket Club and lost to Sinhalese in group round to reach semis. SES then defeated defending champions Madras Cricket Club in the first semi-final of the 5th International SCC T20. The local team defeated the Indian club by six wickets with an over to spare in an exciting high-scoring match.
