255 new cases of coronavirus recorded in the past 24 hours : Health Ministry

KATHMANDU, July 8: As many as 255 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said.


At a daily media briefing, Jageshwar Gautam, the spokesperson for the ministry said that new cases were recorded during tests conducted at various 25 laboratories across the country. "With 255 new cases of COVID-19, the country's COVID-19 tally has risen to 16, 423," Gautam said.

As of today, 2,66,457 persons underwent tests through PCR method in various parts of the country, he said. "As of today, 8,636 persons are in various isolation centers," Gautam said.


Likewise, 25,040 persons are at various quarantine facilities.


Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Population said that the health facilities which are charging fees for COVID-19 tests will have to face action. "There are reports that local levels are paying fees for COVID-19 to health facilities. If it's proven true, the government will take action. We urge the health facilities not to charge any fee to the local governments," he said.


Gautam said that the government will bear all expenses for the COVID-19 testing at the health laboratories.
