Palpa local dies of swine flu

PALPA, August 5: Four patients of Palpa who were referred to Kathmandu for treatment have died. One of the patients is said to have died of swine flu while the reason behind the deaths of other three is not yet known.

Many other patients who are suspected of being infected by H1N1 virus are getting treatment at Lumbini Medical College. As informed by Mahesh Sharma, a doctor of the medical college, Man Bahadur Chidi of Mathagaddhi Rural Municipality-3, Kaseni died of swine flu. Sixty-seven years old Chidi breathed his last in Vayodha Hospital, Kathmandu while undergoing treatment on Friday.

Among other deceased are Man Bahadur Kumal, 69, of Rainadevi-1; Chandra Rana, 28, of Mathagadhi-4 and Basanti Kumari Kunwar, 67, of Mathagadhi-4. 

According to the doctors involved in the treatment, though the reason of their death is still to be confirmed, they all showed the symptoms of swine flu. Besides them, around 10 to 15 more patients are getting their treatment at the medical college for suspected swine flu.
