Load Dispatch Center Chief Chiranjibi Sharma said NEA was compelled to increase load-shedding hours to strike a balance between power demand and supply. [break]
Power demand during daytime and evening is about 480 MW and 885 MW respectively whereas the supply is less than 580 MW.
“Water levels in the rivers have receded and power demand has been constantly rising,” said Sharma.
NEA has projected 14 hour power cut per day in February-March next year.
Panel to probe irregularities
DANG: A committee has been formed to probe into allegations of irregularities in mobilization of fund of Sworgadwari Ashram, a holy place in Pyuthan. The temple management committee of Ashram formed the probe panel following complaints from locals about the irregularities. The locals have accused the Ashram committee, which earns over Rs 20 million a year from devotees, of not making its public so far.
India offers aid worth Rs 20.67 m
KATHMANDU: India on Tuesday pledged a grant of Rs 20.67 million rupees for construction of 15-bed double storied hospital building at Dingla of Bhojpur district under its Nepal-India Cooperation Program. Issuing a statement, the India embassy said a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the embassy and District Development Committee, Bhojpur for implementation of the project.
ANNISU-R elects new chairman
KATHMANDU: The 18th national assembly of the All Nepal National Independent Student´s Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) has elected Himal Sharma as the student body´s new chairman. Similarly, Jagrit Rayamajhi, Ramesh Malla and Sharad Rasayali have been elected as vice chairmen, while Bindaman Bista has been elected as the general secretary. With the election of the new working committee under Sharma´s leadership, the national assembly of ANNISU-R concluded on Tuesday.
