NIC Asia celebrates 20 years of banking service

KATHMANDU, July 21: NIC Asia Bank Ltd, one of the major private-sector commercial banks of Nepal, has turned 20. The bank, initially Nepal Industrial and Commercial Bank Ltd, was registered on July 21, 1998, to operate as a regional bank.

After the merger with the Bank of Asia in June 30, 2013, it became NIC Asia Bank. Currently, the bank has 119 branches, 70 ATMs, and 4,000 remittance counters.

Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, the bank said it has prepared a strategy to extend savings account, retail loans, and small-medium business loans. The statement further said that the bank has been providing an internet service for loans.

The bank is introducing ‘score card model’ that will provide its clients online application facility for ASBA, account opening and loans, added the statement. Till date the bank has eight regional offices.

Under the eastern regional office, 11 branch offices, six ATMs, 486 remittance agents, and two extension counters are operating. The current paid-up capital of the bank is Rs 6.69 billion. It earned Rs 1.42 billion profit last year.

The bank has been contributing in the sectors of environment, health, education, financial literacy, and financial inclusion through its corporate social responsibility programs.
