Govt urges Dr KC to call off his protest

Forms a dialogue committee to address his demands
KATHMANDU, July 21: The government has formed a three-member dialogue committee to address the demands Dr Govinda KC, who is on a fast-unto-death since the last 11 days.

A cabinet meeting at Baluwatar on Wednesday decided to form the committee and also urge Dr Govinda KC to end his strike.

Dr KC has been demanding improvements in medical and health sectors as well as impeachment of Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, to call off his protest immediately.

"The meeting has decided to form a three-member committee to hold talks with Dr KC and address his demands," Minister for Information and Communications Sher Dhan Rai said, adding that the committee comprises of Health Secretary Senendra Raj Upreti, Education Secretary Bishwa Prakash Pandit and  Secretary Kamal Sali Ghimire from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.   

"We also want to inform that all the agreements reached between Dr KC and the government and recommendations made by commissions formed to address his demands are in the process of being implemented. The government is still ready to address his demands through dialogue. So, we have decided to request Dr KC to call of his protests," said Minister Rai.

Similarly, the meeting also decided to promote three doctors in the 11 technical-level health service. Dr Rudra Prasad Marasaini, Dr Badri Chapagain and Dr Mohan Raj Shrestha have been promoted as per the recommendations of the Public Service Commission, according to Minister Rai. “

"The meeting also decided to extend the tenure of Local Peace Committee for another one year," he said.

Likewise, the cabinet also decided to scrap Petroleum and Gas Transaction (Regulatory) Orders, 2013 and revoke approval given to various companies under the order.
