CPN-UML emerges as largest party in Jhapa

JHAPA, July 10: CPN-UML has emerged as the largest party in the district by winning 461 seats out of 685 representatives in 15 local units.

UML has won seven heads of the local units in the district.

 Nepali Congress that has won chiefs of five local units has secured 163 seats while Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has become third with 34 seats including chiefs of three local units.

Similarly, CPN (Maoist Center) has won 27 seats.

With the results of Arjundhara Municipality coming lately, UML has grabbed almost all posts including chief and deputy chief of Arjundhara Municipality.  

UML candidate Hari Kumar Rana has been elected as the mayor and Kamala Acharya as deputy mayor of the municipality.

Rana has won 13, 879 votes while his closest rival of Nepali Congress  Hem Prasad  Kharel got 9, 641 votes.  Kamala Acharya was elected as deputy mayor with 12, 831 votes while her closest rival of NC Saraswati Sitaula got 10, 579 votes.
