KATHMANDU, July 9: CPN (UML) senior leader and former Prime Minister Jhalnath Khanal, has said that the media has played important roles in democratic revolution in Nepal and South Korea. Leader Khanal is in South Korea for few days.

According to leader Khanal's aide Krishna Bhattarai, while addressing the 3rd meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP)'s Media Forum under the 28th meeting in South Korea today leader Khanal opined for making the media more responsible as it has played important roles in social and political movements in both countries.

He added that the 'mission journalism' cannot address the genuine problems of the people as it only tries to fulfill its vested interest therefore professional journalism was needed for real solutions.

The ICAPP standing committee member and Pakistan Muslim League general secretary Mushahid Husaain, Bharatiya Congress leader Anil Shastri and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Jolly had also addressed the session.

Former Prime Minister Khanal is scheduled to return home after attending various programs organized by Nepali communities there. RSS
