UDAYAPUR, July 8: Nepali Congress candidate Sumanta Koirala has warned that he would move the court alleging that he was defeated through vote rigging in Triyuga Municipality-1.

He alleged that 204 more votes were counted while only 2, 858 votes had been cast in the local level elections on June 28.

He accused the opposition party, election office, courting staffers of conspiring against him by counting more votes than those cast on the Election Day.

He argued that a total of 2, 858 votes were cast in ward no. 11 but there were 3,062 votes came up when the number of votes counted and those invalidated ones were put together.

He vehemently stated that he lost the elections after 204 more votes were counted.

Koirala alleged that the opposition must have rigged the vote counting when he fell sleepy and went out of the counting center.

According to the vote count record maintained by the Election Commission, UML candidate Bishwa Raj Bhattarai secured 1,040 votes while Koirala got only 818 votes.

Similarly, CPN (Maoist Center) got 316 votes while Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) got 174 votes.

Meanwhile, acting Chief District Officer Prakash Jung Karki denied allegations that more votes were counted than those cast.
