PANCHTHAR, July 27: Police on Sunday evening arrested 23 people on the charge of gambling from a house in Phidim-- the district headquarters of Panchthar.
The arrested persons are among the VIPs of various sectors in the district, according to Police Inspector Rohanraj Aryal. The police, however, have not disclosed their identities.
Police recovered Rs 247,945 in cash and 16 cowries from the house where they were arrested. Police officials said they are preparing to register a case against them.
