Afghanistan Bulls registers first win in ACPL

KATHMANDU, June 22: An all-round performance from Rana Naveed ul Hassan inspired Afghanistan Bulls register a 31 runs win over Indian Stars in the rain halted match of the ongoing Asian Club Premier League (ACPL) Twenty20 Cricket Tournament on Thursday.
 
To help Bulls producing its first victory in the tournament, Hassan stroked 22 runs off 13 balls and also pocketed two wickets. He also built up a 35-run partnership with Gaurav Sharma for the sixth wicket to help Bulls making a total of 135 runs in 20 overs losing out eight wickets. 

Stars, after losing the toss, chased the target of 136 but the match stopped due to rain when it scored 81 runs in 15 overs losing six wickets. Hence, Bulls was declared winner on the basis of D/L method. 

Meanwhile, it was second straight defeat for Stars as it had faced 53 runs defeat at the hands of Sri Lankan Lions in its first match.  

Earlier, Bull lost its openers Savan Pahariya (6) and Rohit Siani (4) cheaply before Gaurav lifted Afghani side's innings stroking highest 34 runs. Manish Mor and Raghav Bali contributed 15 and 14 runs respectively. 

Sachin Kumar was the pick of the Stars' bowlers as he pocketed 4-29 in four overs while Kuldeep Singh, Manjinder Singh and Dinesh Chauhan claimed one wicket each. 

Meanwhile, Simrat Bawa scored 36 runs off 35 balls for Stars and sachin Kumar made 13 runs while none other batsman touched double digit. 

Alongside Rana Naveed ul Hassan, Rohit Siani and Raghav Bali also claimed two wickets each for the winning side.
