BUSINESS BRIEFS: Pandey bags tourism award

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: Tourism entrepreneur Suman Pandey has bagged the Tourism Man of the Year - 2010 Award. Destination Nepal Publications conferred the award on Pandey recognizing his contribution to tourism promotion and environmental conservation.



Minister for Tourism Sharat Singh Bhandari presented the award, which carried a cash prize of Rs 10,000, to Pandey on Thursday at a function organized to mark the fifth anniversary of Destination Nepal Publications. [break]



Members of the decision committee, which was led by entrepreneur Deepak Mahat, said they decided to award Pandey mainly considering the innovative approaches he took to promote tourism, like introduction of skydiving in the country and coordinating the Kalapatthar Summit.


Kohinoor housing opens booking



Kohinoor Hill Housing has opened the booking of individual houses at Bafal. According Rabi Budathoki, chief market manager of the company, the houses are built in an area of up to 6 ana (2,053.5 square feet). The houses are located in the residential area about 800 m away from Hotel Soaltee Crown Plaza. The company has said that the buyers of the houses will enjoy facilities like community hall, swimming pool, badminton court, gymnasium, common parking, two centralized elevators, high security, fire fighting system and health club, among others.



JCB´s new showroom in Pokhara



Morang Auto Works (MAW), the sole dealer of JCB India Ltd for Nepal, has inaugurated its 5th JCB branch office in Pokhara. Issuing a press statement, the company said that the newly introduced showroom is equipped with sales, service and spares facilities. “With this new branch, MAW aims to enhance customer services in the western region. The expansion is in tune with the company´s strategy to consolidate its hold in the western region as well as keep intact its premier position in the earthmoving equipments business in Nepal,” the statement added. MAW has been selling JCB machines since 2002. According to the statement, the company has sold more than 650 machines in Nepal.
