"The separate documents will be taken to the party´s state and district committees to understand the views of the cadres and synthesize them at the plenum," a central leader quoted Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal as saying at the party Central Committee (CC) meeting that concluded Sunday. [break]
Dahal, and vice chairmen Mohan Baidya and Dr Baburam Bhattarai had presented separate political documents proposing conflicting plans of action for the party.
On the last day of the CC meeting Sunday, Dahal also defended his political document, but his views were tilted toward those of Baidya, who has demanded that the party declare India and "domestic feudalism" as the party´s principal enemies and prepare grounds for an immediate revolt to seize state power.
Bhattarai is for declaring "domestic feudalism" as the principal enemy and completing the peace process and constitution-drafting to institutionalize the political achievements made so far.
Both Baidya and Bhattarai, in their political documents, had attacked Dahal for his "bureaucratic centralism" as well as the style of running the party. "But the chairman refrained from answering most of the questions raised by the leaders," said a central leader.
Some central leaders also criticized the "bourgeoisie" lifestyles of many leaders and their deviation from the "proletarian culture".
The Maoist party has also decided to go ahead with its nationalism issues, and decided to launch struggles for "national self-esteem, peace and constitution". According to party spokesperson Dinanath Sharma, the party will hold rallies and write graffiti in districts from mid-September to mid-October as part of the struggle.
On the government formation, the party has decided to push for ending the ongoing parliament voting for prime minister. "We are not for continuing this seemingly unending process, but we will discuss the issue seriously with other parties," said spokesperson Sharma. Party Standing Committee will take up the election issue further.
