KATHMANDU, July 17: CPN-UML Secretary Pradip Gyawali said that the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli reserves the right to dissolve the Parliament. 

Speaking at an interaction organized by Press Chautari on Saturday, Secretary Gyawali said that the prime minister reserves the right to dissolve the parliament but he is not in favor of it.

“Prime Minister reserves the right to dissolve the parliament,” he said, “but he is not in favor of it.”

“PM Oli will not create constitutional complexities by dissolving the parliament as the nation has already faced such constitutional void after Sher Bahadur Deuba and Baburam Bhattarai did so in the past during their premiership,” said Gyawali.

The UML is not in a mood to let such constitutional hurdles happen again.

Saying that a new government cannot be formed under Article 298 of the Constitution of Nepal, Gyawali argued that these constitutional complexities should be cleared by the either President or the Supreme Court.

He further said that a new government can be formed under Article 76 only after the election of the House of Representatives.

The Prime Minister does not resign outright and will face the no-confidence motion.

“The Prime Minister will not resign immediately,” He will face the no-confidence motion, sated Gyawali.   

But he clarified that the UML is not in a mood to create any conditional complexities.
