Maoists' 2nd letter fails to woo UDMF: Karna

By No Author
KATHMANDU, August 2: With an hour remaining for the prime ministerial voting, Unified CPN (Maoist) issued a letter to United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) in a bid to address the demands raised by the latter on Monday.

However, it has been learnt that the letter would not be enough to garner the support of UDMF which commands 82 votes in the parliament. [break]

Vice chairman of NSP Laxman Lal Karna said that the recent letter issued by the Maoists has nothing that would lure them to support Maoists´ PM candidate.

"There has not been a major change. It resembles earlier letter," Karna said.

Meanwhile, parties aligned to UDMF--Madhesi People´s Rights Forum, Madhesi People´s Right Forum-Democratic, Tarai Madhes Democratic Front and Nepal Sadhbhawana Party (NSP)--are holding internal parleys at their respective parliamentary party offices in Singha Durbar.

UDMF would decide its stance in the runoff voting after a joint meeting later.

Meanwhile, a parliamentary party meeting of Nepal Workers´ Peasant Party (NWPP) decided to support Maoist candidate Pushpa Kamal Dahal on today´s runoff voting.

NWPP commands five seats in the parliament.
