'New Year new me' is a catchphrase most of us think of when we think of New Year. There might be a number of habits that we may want to change or give up. Changing each and every one of them might not be possible. However, here are 20 habits that you should consider quitting in 2020.

1. Procrastinating
Procrastination (the action of delaying or postponing something) is probably the greatest problem people face these days. While in most cases it is caused by fear of failure, or perhaps a fear of success, it may also come as a result of low self-esteem or negative self-belief or a desire to be a perfectionist.

2. Binge eating
If you find yourself eating unnecessarily you would want to make sure if you have problems like stress and anxiety. When you are eating more than you should and more than what your body requires you are flooding your body with unhealthy ingredients.

3. Ignoring physical symptoms
A lot of us have the habit of ignoring physical symptoms. We tend to avoid minor symptoms but the same symptoms will later grow to create major problems. Keeping the popular statement 'prevention is better than cure' in mind every time, we must not avoid physical symptoms.

4. Minimizing the use of social media
Social media has crept from our computer screens onto the screens of our hand-held devices. It definitely has a lot of advantage in our life, but the overuse of social media can become a habit that might bring serious disadvantages too.

5. Over thinking
We are all sufferers of over thinking in some ways or the other. Yet left unchecked, the fear that fuels our thoughts can drive us to be over cautious and keep us from taking the very actions that would help us and serve others.

6. Littering
Littering refers to making a place or area untidy with rubbish or a large number of objects left lying about. A lot of us have the habit of littering our surrounding areas. However, it is definitely not a habit we would want to continue in 2020.

7. Biting nails
Nail biting starts as a nondestructive behavior but if not stopped in time it can develop into a severe, long-term problem. It is bad for your teeth and this habit also invites a risk of toxic poisoning, increasing more hangnails or ingrown nails.

8. Self doubt
One might never show or talk about it, but somehow and somewhere we are all victims of self doubt. It can lead to a low self-esteem and may keep us away from doing things that we can possibly achieve.

9. Stop being Gullible
Gullible describes an overly trusting person who tends to swallow the stories he hears whole. If you are gullible, the joke is on you because you are easily fooled. However, it is not that it is bad to warm up to people, trusting them easily.

10. Smoking
Smoking is something that you should definitely consider quitting from this New Year. There is no safe amount of cigarette smoke. When you smoke, the chemicals in tobacco reach your lungs quickly every time you inhale. Your blood carries the toxins to every organ in your body.

11. Drinking
Over drinking can lead to serious health problems. It wastes ridiculous amounts of money and also hampers your sleep. Because of all the toxins contained within alcohol, drinking it regularly will cause breakouts of acne, and signs of premature ageing.

12. Skipping food
Mostly, people struggling with body image and the ones who feel heavy weight are seen skipping food in order to lose weight. However, this is not good practice as skipping food can hamper your body's natural metabolism and can cause problem in your entire digestion process.

13. Waking up late
Waking up too late generally comes as a result of sleeping too late. It does not benefit you in any way as waking up late makes you lazy, inactive and unhealthy throughout the day. It also obstructs you from doing better and productive things throughout the day.

14. Interrupting while others are speaking
It is annoying when someone interrupts while you are speaking. Interrupting while others are speaking is a bad habit that pisses others off and is definitely a habit to quit for this New Year.

15. Swearing
Somewhere between childhood and adulthood swearing became more acceptable, and probably we all developed a habit of swearing more. However, swearing is not something you should make an everyday habit, and there are reasons to stop swearing. Swearing hinders communication in the worst way possible.

16. Lying
If you desire any real relationships in your life, you need to be trustworthy. Liars cannot be trusted and they end up hurting other people with their lies. Studies show that often people lie in order to protect themselves from any kind of circumstances they fear of putting themselves into.

17. Being pessimistic
In every situation, there are two ways you can react: zoom down to the problem areas and crib about how things are not the way you want, or celebrate the areas that are going well and work on making everything better.

18. Passing judgments
We hardly realize our own mistakes; instead we strive to point out someone else's. Every one of us judge people in some way or the other and it is actually ok to think of something about someone inside our heads. But we should not let it out.

19. Clinging to past
Most of us have a habit of clinging to our past. We often tend to think about our past events; sometimes so much that we let it destroy our present and future.

20. Copying others
Copying others is a bad habit that most of us have. We often tend to copy others which eventually tend to lower our own worth. We are all different and that must be appreciated.
