KATHMANDU, April 15: At least 20 central members of the Nepal Women's Association (NWA), the sister wing of the Nepali Congress, have resigned collectively.
They submitted their resignations on Wednesday, expressing dissatisfaction over the arbitrary actions of the president, Usha Mishra Raut. The members stated that their demands had not been addressed.
NWA to protest nationwide against women violence
They accused Raut of causing disarray within the organization and had previously submitted a four-point demand to party president Sher Bahadur Deuba on April 3. The letter called for the end of the arbitrary actions of the president of NWA and requested the creation of an environment to hold a legal convention.
The members who resigned include Chandra Devi Joshi, Rita Shahi, Chhaya Sunar, Dr Amita Pradhan Shakya, Uma Shivakoti, Ranjita Giri, Dr Sita Ghimire, Tara Thapliya, Navodita Chaudhary, Bhagwati KC, Mira Devi Chand, Parbati Chand, Gita Gurung, Rama Aryal, Lila Kumari Nepal, Radha Kunwar, Sunisha Bhetwal, and Parbati Acharya among others.
