Two girls electrocuted

DOTI, July 12: Two school girls have died and four others sustained injuries after receiving electronic shock while attempting to clear naked wires lying on the road at Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality-4 of Doti district on Monday.

The incident took place at around 6 in the morning while they were heading for school. The deceased have been identified as 10-year-old Roja Aauji and eight-year-old Reshma Aauji. They died on the spot, according to District Police Office (DPO), Doti.

The four children injured in the incident are ten-year-old Kalu Aauji, eight-year-old Ishwari Aauji, ten-year-old Santu Aauji and seven-year-old Sita Aauji. Their condition is normal, according to police. All the children were from Durga Lower Secondary School, Pagari.

According to locals, the live wire from an electricity pole had fallen onto the street at night. They have accused Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) of cirminal negligence for failing to perform periodic maintenance. A team from the NEA and District Police Office headed for the incident site to collect the details.
