JAJARKOT, April 5: Police in Jajarkot district have arrested two cadres of the Netra Bikram Chand’s CPN Maoist for their involvement in the murder of Nepali Congress’ district leader Rabindra Shah.

NC leader Shah was stoned to death at Thaplechaur of Khalanga a week ago. As per the preliminary investigation of the District Police Office, seven cadres of the party were involved in the murder.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Senior Superintendent of Police Mahesh Bikram Shah informed that the Maoist cadres killed him after he refused to pay them “donations”. They had stoned him and thrown him off a cliff.

Those arrested have been identified as Thagendra Bahadur Singh aka Shiva and Dil Bahadur Rana aka Dilli. Police are now searching for Bal Bahadur Malla also known as Paurakh, Prem Oli aka Itihas, Indra Shahi aka Mohit Singh, Dirgha Bahadur Nepal aka Abhishek and one Maoist whose name is not known.

Police have claimed that Malla had plotted the murder. In the beginning police had detained over 13 suspects but eight of them were freed later while five are still in police custody. According to police, their investigation is underway.

However, the Chand-led party has denied involvement of its cadres in the murder. Hari Chandra Jaisi aka Anukul, the district in-charge of the party, said the party was saddened by Shah’s murder and that those involved, whoever they might be, deserve stern punishments.
