KATHMANDU, JULY 12: Nepal Resident Doctors Association at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) on Monday expressed its solidarity with the ongoing hunger-strike staged by TUTH professor and senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC.

The TUTH resident doctors have extended their support to Dr KC despite TUTH administration's warnings of action against doctors who support Dr KC's protest.

Issuing a press statement, the association has demanded the government and concerned bodies to immediately address his demands. The association has accused the government of ignoring past agreements reached with Dr KC. “Dr KC's hunger strike is for improving overall medical education system and health sector,” the association's statement reads.

Meanwhile, Human Rights & Peace Society, a human rights organization, has urged the government to address Dr KC's demands through democratic means.

Dr Govinda KC started his eighth hunger strike at TU Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu on Sunday.
