KATHMANDU, March 23: A four-day workshop entitled Evidence for Policy Design (EPoD), a policy research and implementation initiative of Harvard Kennedy School is underway in the capital. The workshop kicked off on Monday and will conclude on Thursday.
The program that has brought together researchers and policy makers 'for the use of evidence for better government (EPoD) in Nepal' is aimed at advancing the use of data and research evidence in policymaking across South Asia.
According to a press statement issued on Wednesday, the activities of the workshop ranges from laying the groundwork for a sustainable model for training local bureaucrats in the use of evidence, to matching government officials to researchers who can assist them in the design and testing of policy.
The events include a public program, Smart Policy for Women's Economic Empowerment, on Thursday.
According to the press statement, EPoD has been refining a model to help integrate data and research evidence into policy decision-making through program 'Building Capacity to Use Research Evidence : Data and Evidence for Smart Policy Design, for the past three and a half years.
Justice Sapana Malla Pradhan, Speaker of the parliament of Bangladesh Shirin Sharmin Chaudhary among others are will give speech on Thursday's program.
