CHITWAN, March 22: The Narayangadh-Muglin road section, which is the main link of the capital with the southern belt of the country, will be suspending vehicular movement for six hours a day from March 28 to speed up the renovation work.

Vehicular movement has been halted for four hours a so far since the upgrading of the two-lane road is currently underway. As per the notice published by the Naryangadh-Muglin Road Upgrading Project, vehicles can ply the road only from 10 am to 4 pm from next week. “We have decided to expedite the construction work before monsoon,” said Information Officer of the project, Shiva Khanal. 

“We will be requesting vehicles to travel through alternate routes,” Khanal added. According to him, it is really difficult to allow the vehicles to pass through the road during the renovation period. “With much difficulty, allow ambulances and other vehicles in emergency pass through the road,” said Chandra Narayan Yadav, chief of the project.

The construction for expanding the two-lane road started from April 2015. As per the agreement, the construction work should have been completed by now. However, only 41% of the work has been completed yet. So, the construction company and the project management team jointly announced to increase the time for suspending vehicular movement to expedite the work.

According to the project management team, the work was delayed due to earthquakes and blockade but it will be completed by coming December as the project has been given additional eight months. The Narayangadh- Muglin road section is 36 km long and after construction is underway along 33 km of the road. Earlier, it used to take just one hour cross the road section but it takes three hours now due to obstructions.
