CHAUTARA, July 8: The government is preparing to airlift flood victims of Tatopani area, who   have been rendered homeless for the last four days, to Kathamandu on Friday.

Preparations are underway to bring the victims via air after the swollen Bhotekoshi river badly damaged the Brahrabise-Taptopani road section, bringing the road transportation to a grinding halt.

According to Police Inspector Somlal Bhusal of Border Police Post, Tatopani, a Nepal Army chopper is arriving for their rescue.

“The weather is also favorable, all flood victims will be taken to Kathmandu on Friday itself if possible,” said Bhusal, adding, “Around 50 flood-hit locals have already gathered at the local Chaukidanda after hearing about the rescue plan via helicopter.

Around 50 houses were swept away by the monsoon-triggered flood in the Bhotekoshi River.
