DANG, April 24: Minister for Energy Prakash Sharan Mahat has alleged that UCPN (Maoist) has been providing training to disqualified combatants who were discharged from the cantonments a few weeks ago.

Mahat also alleged that the Maoists have taken out the cantoned combatants for the purpose of providing paramilitary training to their cadres. “The Maoists have been providing training even to the disqualified combatants,” he said.

Speaking at a program organized by Tribhuvan Nagar Jaycees in Ghorahi, Mahat said the government has put security agencies on alert to stop Maoists´ violent activities. “The Maoists have tried to threaten the government by providing training to youths on using spears and lathis,” he said.

The Maoists have also expedited extortion drive to employ youths in fresh war.

He said that the ruling allies do not want to stay in the power all the time. “But the Maoists should come through democratic process. Power can not be achieved through force,” he added.

He also alleged that the Maoists have stood as a stumbling block to constitution drafting and peace process.
