RASUWA, Feb 27: Altogether 16 police personnel deployed in Timure Border Post of Rasuwa district were suspended on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in distributing gold smuggled from across the border among themselves.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) suspended the team of 16 police personnel led by an inspector after finding them guilty of distributing gold seized from the border area among them.
Those suspended are Inspector Khem Prasad Nepal, Sub Inspector Bhoj Bahadur Oli, Assistant Sub Inspector Ram Saran Kumal, head constables Ram Sharan Rimal, Purushottam Khatri, Ram Kaji Lama, Gopi Bahadur Tamang. Likewise, constables Shiva Narayan Chaudhary, Yuvaraj Kharel, Bhabilal Rumba Lama, Ram Chandra BK, Rita Chaudhary, Manoj Ale, Chekyu Dolma Moktan, Tara Bahadur Praja and Hari Bahadur Shrestha were also suspended on Wednesday.
The police personnel had allegedly distributed the seized gold from a truck (Na 6 Kha 4932) which had entered Nepal from Keyrung, China. They had allegedly seized 422 grams of gold and distributed it among themselves, rather than handing it over to the authorities concerned.
