KATHMANDU, April 16: A total of 159 local levels are being run by the Acting Chief even after a month of the implementation of the local level.
The government had dissolved the local bodies on March 11 by publishing a notice in Nepal Gazette. The issuance of government officials' management is likely to be that of the local bodies.
Currently, the country has a total of 744 local levels, including 481 rural municipalities, 246 municipalities, 13 sub-metropolitan cities and four metropolitan cities.
The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development had deployed the executive officers in all local levels except in 159 local levels.
Ministry's Under-Secretary Bharat Kumar Sharma said that section officers are deputed in 110 municipalities and Nayab Subba in 49 rural municipalities in the capacity of acting chiefs for lack of government officials.
Sharma said that 90 under secretaries promoted this year have been given the responsibilities of executive officers in municipalities for lack of sufficient officials.
The Ministry has said that the number of required officials would be determined as per the decision of the concerned rural municipality assembly and municipality assembly after the local level elections on May 14.
Likewise, the Ministry has also formed a taskforce under the leadership of Joint Secretary Chakra Bahadur Budha to prepare a format on the number of officials to facilitate the people's representatives after the elections.
The executive officers would be sent in all local levels after the completion of the framework. RSS
