KATHAMNDU, April 28: The scheduled hearing for the rape case against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane could not proceed today.
A joint bench of judges at the Patan High Court, comprising Dhir Bahadur Chand and Chandramani Gyawali, deferred the case for today.
Lamichhane, who was convicted of rape, filed an appeal on February 22 against the decision made by the bench of Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal of the Kathmandu District Court.
The Kathmandu District Court has sentenced cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane to eight years in prison in connection to a rape case. The bench also ordered the cricketer to pay a fine of Rs 300,000 and a compensation of Rs 200,000 to the victim for psychological distress.
