KATHMANDU, Sept 30: Travelers faced disruptions on Friday night as technical problems plagued two aircrafts operated by Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC).
An NAC employee reported that approximately half a dozen flights were impacted due to issues with a wide-body aircraft with the call sign '9N-ALZ' and a narrow-body aircraft with the call sign '9N-AKW.'
The wide-body aircraft required repairs after sustaining damage when a luggage cart collided with and damaged a part of its door. Meanwhile, the narrow-body aircraft was grounded due to issues with its reversal gear.
"The management officer is currently in Dhulikhel. While the wide-body aircraft was expected to be cleared for operation by Friday evening, repairs for the narrow-body aircraft have yet to be completed," the employee stated.
To mitigate disruptions, the airline has arranged for the Friday night flight that couldn't be operated using the wide-body aircraft to be rescheduled for Saturday morning using another wide-body aircraft. However, it's anticipated that Saturday morning flights to destinations including Delhi, Hong Kong, Bangalore, and Dammam, which were initially planned to be served by the narrow-body aircraft, will also be affected.
This incident marks another setback for NAC, which had recently added an aircraft to its fleet just three months ago. Unfortunately, technical problems have arisen once more, causing concerns for the airline's operations. With two out of its four aircraft experiencing issues, NAC stands to incur substantial financial losses in a single day.
