Govt makes official announcement of PM Dahal's visit to China

KATHMANDU, Sept 21: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has formally announced Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's visit to China. The seven-day visit is scheduled from September 23 to September 30 and comes at the gracious invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

During his visit, Prime Minister Dahal is slated to engage in high-level discussions with key Chinese officials, including a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Hangzhou. Furthermore, he will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Li Qiang, aiming to bolster diplomatic ties and explore avenues for collaboration.

Among the notable highlights of the visit is a scheduled meeting with Chairman Zhao Leji of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress in Beijing. This meeting is expected to address critical matters of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Dahal will also play a pivotal role in the China-Nepal Investment Conference, jointly organized by the Nepali Embassy in Beijing, which underscores the commitment to fostering economic cooperation between the two nations.

On September 23, the Prime Minister will partake in the grand opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, highlighting the cultural and sporting ties between China and Nepal.

As part of his trip's agenda, Prime Minister Dahal will visit Chongqing Municipality to gain insights into China's agricultural and industrial development. Additionally, he will journey to Lhasa in China's Tibet Autonomous Region, a region that shares a border with Nepal, further emphasizing the importance of the relationship.

Accompanying the Prime Minister on this significant diplomatic mission will be his daughter, Ganga Dahal, as well as a delegation of esteemed officials, including Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud, Water Supply Minister Mahindra Rai Yadav, and Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Prakash Jwala. The visit will also be attended by National Security Adviser Shankardas Bairagi, Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission Min Bahadur Shrestha, and other senior government officials. Representatives from the business community will also be present, reflecting the multi-dimensional nature of the visit and its potential impact on various sectors of Nepal-China relations.
