BARA, Feb 8: CMG Sankata Club has reached the final of the ongoing Ruslan 8th Simara Gold Cup defeating holder Bijay Youth Club 2-1 on Wednesday.

In the first semifinal match played at Simara stadium, Anil Gurung and Bishwa Adhikari scored one goal each for the winning side while Bijay Youth's goal came from Bimal Rana Magar.

Bijay youth took early lead in the match as Bimal netted the opening goal in 45 seconds utilizing a pass from Sunil Bal. Sankata found the equalizer in the 27th minute with Anil scoring from a close range. When the match was lurking toward 1-1 draw, Bishwa found the winning goal from long range just one minute before the normal time ended.

The match was very competitive as both sides created some goal scoring opportunities.

Sankata had good chance to add the goal in the 70th minute when Sushil KC hit the woodwork. Six minutes later Bimal missed chance to score for Bijay Youth as he failed to put the ball in the opponent's net in a one-versus-one situation.

After the victory, Sankata's head coach Salyan Khadgi said that his players played bravely.

“My players were brave today as they didn't lose the rhythm despite trailing down by one goal,” said head coach Khadgi. He also said that his team will improve the weaknesses in the final.

Meanwhile Bijay Youth's head coach Subin Ghimire said that failing to utilize the goal scoring chances saw his team face defeat. “Despite taking the lead my players couldn't continue the same form until the last minute. Our finishing was very poor today,” said head coach Ghimire.

Sankata's Bishwa Adhikari was declared man-of-the-match. Sankata will now take on the winner of  the match between Tribhuvan Army Club and Himalayan Sherpa Club in the summit clash.
