Truck plunges into Trishuli river, one missing

RATNANAGAR (Chitwan), Jan 29: A person has been reported missing after a truck fell into the Trishuli river at Dharechowk VDC – 4, Chitwan this morning. 

The ill-fated truck (Na 5 Kha 5354) en route to Kathmandu from Birgunj with a supply of rice grains veered out of control and plunged 70 metres downhill into the river at 5 am, according to the District Police Office, Chitwan. 

Ram Sharan Wagle, 20, of Khayerghari in Dhading was rescued with injuries whereas another unidentified person remains unaccounted for. The police are yet to find out how many passengers were onboard the truck at the time of the accident. 

Meanwhile, two persons were injured after a truck overturned at Kurintaar this morning. The truck was found submerged in water 20 feet below the road. The truck (Na 6 Kha 4729) carrying mosquito repellent incense to Kathmandu from Birgunj swerved out of control at 1:30 am at Kurintaar, of Dharechowk VDC – 3, Chitwan and overturned. 

Truck driver, Hari Basnet, 26, and assistant driver, Niraj Bhujel, 18, of Sindhupalchowk were injured in the accident. They are undergoing treatment at the Bharatpur Medical College. RSS
