KATHMANDU, April 6: Various sister organizations affiliated to the ruling CPN (Maoist Center) have submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal demanding to rename Koshi province on the basis of ethnic identity.
A delegation including officials of ethnic organizations such as Newa Rashtriya Mukti Morcha and Limbuwan Rashtriya Mukti Morcha reached Baluwatar and submitted the memorandum to rename the Koshi province.
The sister organizations have demanded that the situation that arose after naming the province should be resolved through immediate negotiations and compensation should be arranged for the families of those who died during the agitation.
Senior Vice President of Limbuwan Rashtriya Mukti Morcha, Prem Miwak said that the party has asked the Prime Minister Dahal to play a leadership role by facilitating the renaming of the province on the basis of ethnic identity.
Earlier, all lawmakers of Maoist Center had voted in favor of naming Koshi in the Provincial assembly meeting. However, a meeting of the party’s office bearers held on Wednesday decided to stand in favor of ethnic identity as the basis of the name of the province.
