KATHMANDU, March 31: Ramesh Kharel, who was defeated in Kathmandu-1 in the House of Representatives elections held last November, is contesting the by-election to be held in Bara-2 on April 23. He is contesting the by-election as a candidate of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)
RSP Spokesperson Mukul Dhakal said former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Nepal Police Ramesh Kharel is an unopposed candidate from the party.
Kharel, who is going to contest in the by-election from Bara 2, stood fifth in the parliamentary election held in Kathmandu-1 in November, 2022. He was a candidate from the Nepal Good Governance Party.
JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav, who lost the election in Saptari 2, and Rajendra Mahato of the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, who lost the election in Sarlahi 2, are also preparing to contest in the by-election in Bara 2.
