KATHMANDU, March 28: The government is preparing to take a decision to send the draft law related to loan-sharking to parliament. Surya Kiran Sharma, Press coordinator of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal informed Republica that the meeting of the Council of Ministers which will be held this afternoon will finalize the draft of the law and submit it to parliament.
Sharma said that Prime Minister Dahal has already instructed to draft a law to solve the problem of loan-sharking victims and the draft has already been prepared.
The government has prepared a draft law in this regard to address the demands of the loan shark victims and is preparing to give approval to the relevant ministry to register the bill in parliament. He also said that the law related to this is going to be made on a 'fast track' basis.
The government has also formed a committee to understand the problems of loan shark victims who have been protesting in the capital Kathmandu for a few days.
Under the coordination of Prime Minister Dahal, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Rudra Devi Sharma, Under Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Dil Kumar Tamang, Under Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Umakant Adhikari, and Under Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Janga Bahadur Danga.
The loan shark victims were on their way to the Prime Minister's residence, Baluwatar, when the police stopped them at Tangal this morning. As the representatives of the victims requested to meet with the Prime Minister, Prime Minister Dahal has prepared to meet with the victims today, according to the Prime Minister's Secretariat.
