KATHMANDU, March 24: A charge sheet against hydropower developer Guru Prasad Neupane has been filed in the Kathmandu district court, seeking recovery of over Rs 32 million in fine with imprisonment.
The District Government Attorney Office, Kathmandu, filed the case charging Neupane with an ‘inside trading’ in securities, which is illegal in Nepal. Nepal Police had launched an investigation into the matter following a case filed by the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON).
Neupane made over Rs 32 million in benefits by illegally trading stocks of Ridi Power Company Limited while he was Chairperson of the company, according to the indictment.
The SEBON on December 10, 2022 had decided to take action against Neupane and Gyanendra Lal Pradhan, chairperson of the Nepal Hydro Developers Company, claiming that they had illegally traded stocks.
