KATHMANDU, Feb 8: The Nepali women cricket players participating in the Women's Premier League (WPL) auction to be organised for the first time by the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) have failed to make it to the shortlist.
Although five players from Nepal have registered their names, there are only eight associate players in the shortlist. Nepali players captain Ruveena Chhetri Belbase, all-rounder Sita Rana Magar, fast bowler Kavita Kunwar, Ashmina Karmacharya and batter Indu Burma registered their names.
BCCI has said that 409 players have been shortlisted. A total of 1,525 players registered for the auction. Each team can buy a maximum of 18 players in the WPL. A team can have 7 foreign players. In which there should be at least one associate player. Playing five foreign players in the playing eleven requires an associate. The tournament is scheduled to be held from March 4 to 26. There will be a total of 22 matches in the tournament.
