KATHMANDU, Jan 29: Chairman of CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli reached Baluwatar to meet Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday reportedly for reinstating Rabi Lamichhane to the post of home minister, according to sources close to Oli.
Earlier on Sunday, General Secretary of CPN-UML Shankar Pokharel had said that Rabi Lamichhane was sued to change the balance of power.
According to the sources, UML Chairman Oli is preparing to return Lamichhane to the Ministry of Home Affairs and he is putting pressure on PM Dahal in order to strengthen the government.
The meeting between Chairman Oli and PM Dahal in Baluwatar was held in this regard, claimed the sources.
According to the constitutional provisions, even if Lamichhane is not elected as an MP, he can stay in the government for six months. In the meantime, he can return to the House of Representatives if he wins the by-elections. However, if he doesn't win, he will have to leave the government.
The Rastriya Swatantra Party made it clear that they will leave the government if they do not get the Ministry of Home Affairs.
