KATHMANDU, Jan 8: The election of members of the House of Representatives and the provincial assemblies has contributed to the selection of people's representatives as well as the institutionalization of the democratic federal republic, according to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya.
In an inauguration program held today in Dolakha of Bagmati Province, CEC Thapaliya said the province-wise review program of the elections held on 20th of November will be guided on the ways the elections can be organized in the coming days.
“Suggestions were taken after consultation with the rural municipality to correct the voters list. A request was made to update the list as many voters had died or migrated,”CEC Thapaliya said, “We believe that the voter list is updated but if a wrong list has been prepared then you are responsible for that. I do not believe that Dolakha has earned notoriety by getting dead people to vote. If that has happened then details are requested to be presented here.”
At the program, deputy secretary of the Election Commission, Kamal Gyawali made a presentation with the help of statistics, good practices, problems and challenges of the recently-held election.
