KATHMANDU, Dec 29: The hearing on the high-profile case of Nepali cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who is accused of rape, has been deferred until next Thursday.
The case couldn’t be presented for hearing before Patan High Court Judges Subhash Paudel and Kiran Kumar Pokharel on Thursday.
Lamichhane is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl. After the Kathmandu District Court ordered him to be remanded in custody on rape charge, his lawyers filed an appeal at the Patan High Court.
Last Tuesday, the Kathmandu District Court also ordered the records of the victim's age to be brought from the hospital.
The district court has sent Lamichhane to prison for preliminary investigation on the charge of rape.
