KATHMANDU, Nov 30: The test of the Super Kabeli 'A' Hydroelectric Project, built in Sirijunga Rural Municipality of Taplejung, has been successful. The project, constructed on the Kabeli River, has a capacity of 13.5 megawatts.
According to the project's public relations officer, Megh Nath Dhungana, testing started last Sunday. Following the successful test, technicians from the Nepal Electricity Authority are conducting final checks and inspections, with plans to connect the electricity generated by the project to the national transmission line by Saturday.
According to NEA technicians, the electricity produced by the project will be connected to the national transmission line through the Amarapur substation (132 kV capacity) located in Panchthar.
Phase II of Kabeli Corridor Transmission Line ready
The testing of the transmission line, which spans about 31 kilometers from the powerhouse located at Rato Khola in Yamphudin of Sirijunga-8 to the Amarapur substation, has also been successful. The Super Kabeli 'A' Hydroelectric Project was built by Snow Rivers Limited.
The project, which began in mid-December 2022, has been completed in a relatively short span of time. Built at a cost of around Rs 2.63 billion, the project is expected to make a significant contribution to regional energy supply.
In the same area, Kabeli Hydropower Company Limited is also constructing another hydropower project with a capacity of 21.13 megawatts, which is expected to further strengthen local and national energy production.
