KATHMANDU, Dec 25: Amid concerns that the coalition partners have  parted their ways, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki expressed his belief that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will succeed in keeping the ruling coalition intact.

Minister Karki expressed this belief after chairman of the Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal walked out of the ruling coalition meeting held on Sunday morning. Dahal walked out of the meeting after Prime Minister Deuba did not agree with Dahal’s stance that he should be made the new prime minister for the first half of the next five years.

Communications Minister Karki claimed that the ruling parties will sit for talks in a meeting and an agreement would be reached soon. Minister Karki mentioned that it is the tradition of Nepali politics that everything happens at the last moment and everything will be settled at the end. The one-week period that President Bidya Devi Bhandari gave to the parties to stake their claim to the post of prime minister expires at 5 pm today.
