German national dies in road accident

KATHMANDU, Dec 8: A foreign national died when a pick-up vehicle and a motorcycle collided in Philsing, Ichhakamana Rural Municipality-3. Two people, including another foreigner, were injured. The accident took place today at 10:15 AM on the Prithvi Highway in Philsing.

According to the District Police Office, 60-year-old Michelle Mayer Olvarsleben, a German citizen, died in the accident. He died during treatment at Chitwan Medical College.

The accident happened as a motorcycle (Na 41 Pa 548) going to Kathmandu from Narayanghat and a pick-up vehicle (Bagmati Province 03-001 Cha 1682) coming from Dhading and going to Mugling collided. Both the vehicles fell 50 meters off the road.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bijay Raj Pandit, spokesperson for the District Police Office, one foreign national riding a motorcycle and one riding a pick-up vehicle were injured. The motorcyclist, a German citizen, died, while the condition of the foreign woman, the pillion rider, is stable.

Bir Bahadur Tamang, 73, of Galchhi Rural Municipality-5 of Dhading was among the three people riding the pickup vehicle. Both the injured are being treated at Chitwan Medical College, police said, adding that the driver and co-driver of the pickup vehicle are under police control.
