SIMKOT, Dec 7: Two border police outposts at Namkha Rural Municipality in Humla district have been shifted due to increasing cold in the region.

The police outposts at Namkha 5 and 6 were shifted as the police personnel had to struggle due to the extreme cold, said Inspector Dipak Malla. The temperature of the area dropped to sub-zero level. "It becomes increasingly difficult for the police personnel in the area. It will be difficult to supply rations for them. Police beats are relocated every year after mid-November," he said. 

The police beats are padlocked until the police personnel deployed there return around mid-May. There are altogether 13 police personnel posted at Hilsa, and 11 at Sunkhani.

Last year, police personnel deployed at the Hilsa police beat were shifted to the Muchu police beat at Namkha-5 due to extreme cold, he said.

However, the border outpost belonging to the Armed Police Force at Hilsa border with neighboring China has remained functional despite the cold.
