Nepal records three deaths linked to COVID-19 as the number of active cases reach almost 6,000

KATHMANDU, August 10: Nepal recorded 868 new cases, 414 recoveries and three deaths from COVID-19 on Wednesday, according to the information released by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

As many as 6,705 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 496 PCR and 372 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 5,956 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 5,671 are in home isolation, 214 in institutional isolation, 64 in ICUs and seven on ventilators. So far, 11,977 people have died from the virus across the country.

Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 300 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. Of them, 229 cases were recorded in Kathmandu, 18 in Bhaktapur and 53 in Lalitpur districts.
