UDAYAPUR, August 2: A person has drowned in a river in Udayapur.  The deceased has been identified as Bauwa Chapagai, 50, from Triyuga Municipality- 7, Tilbari. He died on the spot.

Citing local witnesses, the Udayapur Police said that Chapagai was swept away by the flood while crossing the river at 6:30 PM on Monday evening. District Police Office, Udaaypur said that he died on the spot when he was swept down about 50 meters while returning home from the market in the evening. The body of the deceased is kept at the District Hospital for a post-mortem.

According to Mohan Thapa, acting information officer for the Police Office, Udaaypur, when Chapagai was rescued by the locals, he was already dead.
