KATHMANDU, July 21: A writ has been filed at Patan High Court against the Ward Chairman of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-30, Dal Bahadur Karki for killing dogs.
Rupak Koirala, Secretary of Animal Welfare Association of Nepal and Bikesh Kumar Shrestha, Treasurer of the same organization, filed the writ petition against the Ward Chairman, who said he plans to kill community dogs.
Ward Chairman Karki said that he had killed community dogs before and is still looking for medicine, and plans to kill 2500 stray dogs in one day during the KMC’s Executive Committee meeting held on Sunday.
He made such a proposal saying that there is a possibility that a decision can be made to kill the community dog at any time. The petitioner has demanded in the writ to bar him from making such a decision until the final verdict is made.
